SYMPOSIUM ANNOUNCEMENT

The 2006 World Conference on Arts Education, held in Lisbon, Portugal, sparked the National Arts and Learning Symposium at the University of Ottawa on May 3-4, 2007, that attracted more than 100 delegates from across the country. Following the recommendations from that Symposium, we are pleased to announce the forthcoming Canadian Arts and Learning Symposium, scheduled for October 29 – 31, 2008, at the Faculty of Education, Queen’s University, Kingston, Ontario. Our twin goals are the enhancement of arts and learning in Canada and helping to prepare the Canadian response to the next World Conference on Arts Education in Seoul, South Korea, in 2010. Our main theme this year is “Network Building within Canadian Arts and Learning Communities”.

Included in this announcement are attachments inviting academic papers, poster sessions and workshops, for 2008. We invite you to consider attending this Canadian Symposium and urge you to pass on this invitation to all who might be interested.

ANNONCE DU SYMPOSIUM

Le Symposium national sur les arts et l’apprentissage, qui s’est déroulé à l’Université d’Ottawa les 3 et 4 mai 2007, faisait suite à la Conférence mondiale sur l’éducation artistique de 2006, qui s’est tenue à Lisbonne, au Portugal. Plusieurs d’entre vous ont participé à cet événement. À la suite des recommandations du symposium de 2007, nous sommes heureux de vous annoncer la tenue du prochain Symposium canadien sur les arts et l’apprentissage, qui aura lieu du 29 au 31 octobre 2008, à la Faculté d’éducation de l’Université Queen’s à Kingston, en Ontario. Le symposium aura pour objectif de continuer à mettre en valeur les arts et l’apprentissage au Canada et à participer à la préparation de la réponse canadienne à la prochaine Conférence mondiale sur l’éducation artistique, qui se tiendra à Séoul, en Corée du Sud, en 2010. Le thème principal de cette année est « Bâtir un réseau au sein des communautés canadiennes engagées dans les arts et l’apprentissage. »

Un document invitant les contributions académiques pour le symposium de 2008 est joint à la présente annonce. Si cette annonce ne vous concerne pas, nous vous prions de la transmettre aux professeurs d’éducation artistique du département approprié. Les invitations à soumettre des propositions pour les ateliers et les présentations par affiches suivront sous peu.
